* This is what is the ILLUSION.
1. The idea for today can be regarded as the central thought toward which all our exercises are directed.
²God’s is the only Will.
* God is the Whole of All That Is or Ever Could Be. Nothing can be outside of God’s Will. THIS IS WHY AN ACKNOWLEDGMENT OF HYMN IS SO IMPORTANT.
³When you have recognized this, you have recognized that your will is His.
* Put this on a paper and tape it to your door and around the house until you KNOW that it is so. SPIRIT will bring it to you.
⁴The belief that conflict is possible has gone.
* This belief is gone with the acceptance of the true forgiveness of the Atonement, but this does not mean that you will not see the attempts of the Son of God to see otherwise. You just know better.
⁵Peace has replaced the strange idea that you are torn by conflicting goals.
⁶As an expression of the Will of God, you have no goal but His.
* YOU are an expression of the Will of God as a part of His Son along with All That Is.
2. There is great peace in today’s idea, and the exercises for today are directed towards finding it.
* “There is no will but God’s.”
²The idea itself is wholly true.
³Therefore it cannot give rise to illusions.
⁴Without illusions conflict is impossible.
⁵Let us try to recognize this today, and experience the peace this recognition brings.
* This is another way of saying that if you KNOW that GOD IS you will have that peace that passes understanding that is spoken of in scripture. I HAVE THIS.
* It is different than before I accepted the Atonement, though. Then I thought our mistakes were real and did not understand that they are only figments of our imagination, both individually and collectively.
* This does not mean that they do not hurt or influence us though. I am finding myself on the “outside” of the debate that I need to go through the flames of the confusion of ego in faith to best serve Father’s Will.
* What this means to me is that I do not want to associate with others for two reasons, one, because I become a pawn in their story of attack on themselves and others, and two I do not want to be a witness to others that the perpetuation of false identities in ego are real or acceptable.
* Ego must consume and control within its range of influence. You can see the power hunger. It destroys everything in its path. Still, they will “cuddle up” to you when they feel that you are no longer a threat.
* Even from within the Atonement you may be subject to the psychological trickery of the ego in your circle IF that is the role you play in the Plan of Salvation.
3. Begin the longer practice periods by repeating these thoughts several times, slowly and with firm determination to understand what they mean, and to hold them in mind:
²There is no will but God’s.
³I cannot be in conflict.
* BUT you will be able to see it and may go through an unfolding “place, or time” while the truth of the situation is being shown to you.
⁴Then spend several minutes in adding some related thoughts, such as:
⁵I am at peace.
⁶Nothing can disturb me.
* These understandings reside within me, undisturbed because I know that GOD IS. For this I am truly grateful.
⁷My will is God’s.
⁸My will and God’s are one.
⁹God wills peace for His Son.
¹⁰During this introductory phase, be sure to deal quickly with any conflict thoughts that may cross your mind.
¹¹Tell yourself immediately:
¹²There is no will but God’s.
¹³These conflict thoughts are meaningless.
* I am getting a sense that this is more of a form of self-hyptnosis than the Atonement. You mind will do what you tell it to. You have heard the phrase of putting on the rose colored glasses? That is not what the Atonement was meant for.
* It is a BLANKET ACCEPTANCE of GOD’S REALITY that clears your mind of belief in the trickery of the ego and allows you to be tuned in to SPIRIT, listening for guidance from Father.
4. If there is one conflict area that seems particularly difficult to resolve, single it out for special consideration.
²Think about it briefly but very specifically, identify the particular person or persons and the situation or situations involved, and tell yourself:
³There is no will but God’s.
⁴I share it with Him.
⁵My conflicts about _________ cannot be real.
* THEY ARE REAL in the realm of the illusion.
* It is only the ABSOLVING FORGIVENESS of the ATONEMENT that allows you to see CHRIST AND FATHER. These conflicts must be dealt with HERE and NOW. THIS IS THE BACKBONE OF THE IDEA that there is no accountability or BOUNDARIES. AND IT IS FALSE.
5. After you have cleared your mind in this way, close your eyes and try to experience the peace to which your reality entitles you.
* NO! IT IS GOD’S REALITY THAT OFFERS PEACE AND NOTHING ELSE.
²Sink into it and feel it closing around you.
³There may be some temptation to mistake these attempts for withdrawal, but the difference is easily detected.
⁴If you are succeeding, you will feel a deep sense of joy and an increased alertness, rather than a feeling of drowsiness and enervation.
6. Joy characterizes peace.
* This is what Bing says:
The sentence “Joy characterizes peace” suggests that joy and peace are closely related. Joy is an inner calm and assurance that results from knowing one is reconciled to God, and it underlies peace. Joy is also associated with love, hope, and calm vibes.
* I have found PEACE in knowing that GOD IS and JOY in existence in, with, and of GOD.
²By this experience will you recognize that you have reached it.
³If you feel yourself slipping off into withdrawal, quickly repeat the idea for today and try again.
⁴Do this as often as necessary.
⁵There is definite gain in refusing to allow retreat into withdrawal, even if you do not experience the peace you seek.
7. In the shorter periods, which should be undertaken at regular and predetermined intervals today, say to yourself:
²There is no will but God’s.
³I seek His peace today.
⁴Then try to find what you are seeking.
⁵A minute or two every half an hour, with eyes closed if possible, would be well spent on this today.
* This peace is a gift from Father, it will settle inside you and be a comfort that is a part of knowing the truth.
