God is the Love in which I forgive.
* This statement is DECEIVING.
* Deceiving because it allows the mortal, linear mind to say this is something I do every day, moment by moment rather than all at once, and then move through at Father’s Direction through SPIRIT.
1. God does not forgive because He has never condemned.
* He is All That Is and Nothing could be not of HYMN or AS HYMN.
²And there must be condemnation before forgiveness is necessary.
* So what we are forgiving is something that is not real.
³Forgiveness is the great need of this world, but that is because it is a world of illusions.
* The illusion must be forgiven as a whole for it is only one idea based on separation from Father.
⁴Those who forgive are thus releasing themselves from illusions, while those who withhold forgiveness are binding themselves to them.
* Do not take this to mean forgiving error because THAT MAKES IT REAL IN YOUR MIND.
* You are forgiving the idea that ANYTHING OUTSIDE OF GOD, HYMNSELF IS POSSIBLE.
⁵As you condemn only yourself, so do you forgive only yourself.
* Think of this as Christ as a Whole and not solely as you individually.
* Not that you are not significant and unique within the Whole.
* The ego’s attempt to confuse us is evident in this book but with SPIRIT and when the spotlight is put on it, the message becomes clear for the release of the bondage that the nightmare of separation puts us in.
2. Yet although God does not forgive, His Love is nevertheless the basis of forgiveness.
* Remember, Father does not forgive because He knows that the need of it is impossible. The belief that it is necessary IS what we are forgiving the WHOLE CONSCIOUSNESS of the Son.
²Fear condemns and love forgives.
* It would be more clearly stated if it said, “Fear condemns and love knows better.”
* Because True Love knows that GOD IS and that there is nothing that opposes HYMN.
³Forgiveness thus undoes what fear has produced, returning the mind to the awareness of God.
⁴For this reason, forgiveness can truly be called salvation.
⁵It is the means by which illusions disappear.
3. Today’s exercises require at least three full five-minute practice periods, and as many shorter ones as possible.
²Begin the longer practice periods by repeating today’s idea to yourself, as usual.
³Close your eyes as you do so, and spend a minute or two in searching your mind for those whom you have not forgiven.
⁴It does not matter “how much” you have not forgiven them.
⁵You have forgiven them entirely or not at all.
* You do not forgive them. You see them as the Christ that they are and you forgive the belief in separation from God. That frees us ALL and nothing else will or does. Either God exists or He does not.
* Think about the whole concept of what Jesus is teaching. GOD IS, Christ is ALL THAT IS or EVER COULD BE, and GOD DIRECTS THE SON THROUGH SPIRIT. That’s it. Everything must fall under this.
* Knowing this is it not easy to see how the ego-god mentality got into the Course and stirred up trouble and confusion?
* I am not speaking about individuals, IE. Helen, Bill, or Ken, I am speaking about a mentality that seeks to keep the Son separated from the Father for the Son’s destruction IN AN ATTEMPT TO KEEP ITSELF ALIVE.
* You might say we have been dealing with the concept of “artificial intelligence” since “time” itself began. That “artificial intelligence” being the ego that believes it know better than God, the One, Original, and Universal Creator of All That Is, of what is best for HIS SON.
* That said you can make what you want of the rest of the lesson’s practices but if you release ANY individual from the consequences of an action you have made the error, mistake, crime, REAL in your own mind and set YOURSELF up as God.
4. If you are doing the exercises well you should have no difficulty in finding a number of people you have not forgiven.
²It is a safe rule that anyone you do not like is a suitable subject.
³Mention each one by name, and say:
⁴God is the Love in which I forgive you, [name].
* This can only be for Christ as a WHOLE in the belief that separation from God was possible.
5. The purpose of the first phase of today’s practice periods is to put you in a position to forgive yourself.
²After you have applied the idea to all those who have come to mind, tell yourself:
³God is the Love in which I forgive myself.
* IF YOU DO YOU HAVE MADE ALL OF YOUR ERROR REAL BY BELIEVING YOU HAVE ANYTHING TO FORGIVE YOURSELF FOR.
⁴Then devote the remainder of the practice period to adding related ideas such as:
⁵God is the Love with which I love myself.
⁶God is the Love in which I am blessed.
* THESE TWO STATEMENT ~ ARE ~ TRUE!
6. The form of the application may vary considerably, but the central idea should not be lost sight of.
²You might say, for example:
³I cannot be guilty because I am a Son of God.
* THIS IS TRUE.
⁴I have already been forgiven.
* THIS IS NOT TRUE.
⁵No fear is possible in a mind beloved of God.
* THIS IS TRUE.
⁶There is no need to attack because love has forgiven me.
* THIS IS FALSE. LOVE HAS NO NEED TO FORGIVE.
⁷The practice period should end, however, with a repetition of today’s idea as originally stated.
7. The shorter practice periods may consist either of a repetition of the idea for today in the original or in a related form, as you prefer.
* “God is the Love in which I forgive.” THIS IS OBVIOUSLY FALSE BECAUSE LOVE SEES NOTHING TO FORGIVE AND NEITHER DOES GOD.
* I am noting that AI does not like emphasis. “Obviously” is to much for it. Well, tough shit! That is the way I want to say it!
²Be sure, however, to make more specific applications if they are needed.
³They will be needed at any time during the day when you become aware of any kind of negative reaction to anyone, present or not.
⁴In that event, tell him silently:
⁵God is the Love in which I forgive you.
* NO. Say, “Father what would you have me do in this situation?”
* This would be recognizing God, allowing HYMN to instruct you, and fulfilling your role in the Atonement and healing of the Sonship of Christ.
