My thoughts* on ACIM Urtext Lesson 148, for May 27, 2024. My mind holds only what I think with God.

My mind holds only what I think with God.

* God occupies my every thought. Yep, even that one.

1(135) If I defend myself I am attacked.

* I could not believe the words that came out of my mouth, “Sweetheart, I haven’t even started!” or something to that affect when she asked if I was “going to come after her again.” I would have gasped if I had time. Everyone else did. Maybe I did too. It was not me who spoke. I would not have said that to her because I do not get involved in what the Holy Spirit does through me anymore. I do my best to get out of the way.

* I knew right away that it was the Holy Spirit and in short order I knew He was cutting the ties that I apparently, was not wise enough to do. But, as I said, I do not get involved in stuff anymore. I mean, what would be the point? I want the Holy Spirit to move through me. The world mentality that denies God and worships death, suffering, and attack holds nothing I want.

* Not even when it is put up in pleasant costumes. They are just dashed to the ground and reveal their ugly underbellies of self-abuse and scorn.

* This does not mean that everything that I say is absolute truth, for one thing because all things said pass through another’s mind to be interpreted by their stories and understandings. But also, what is said is meant for that time and in that way because that is how the Holy Spirit functions. He is not bound by the constructs of time as we are or locked into a historical journey of torture. His is a message for the moment and the persons who received it and it could have different meaning to every individual who hears it. I felt a great outpouring of love for that woman as I said those words but you can imagine that she and those who heard me did not interpret it that way.

(136) Sickness is a defense against the truth.

* Even though Jesus speaks of the fact that we are not our bodies we rush to the idea that this ‘sickness’ speaks of the body only and I would suggest that it speaks most fully and directly to mental illness.

* Mental illness, which covers all that exists within the ego=god mentality is a defense against the truth that God is our Creator and we are a part of Christ, His Son Who has NEVER left His Presence.

* I want to repeat that a few times to help it sink in. But I won’t. You get the idea I hope.
