Love holds no grievances.
* God is Love so how could there be grievances in Love?
1. You who were created by love like itself can hold no grievances and know your Self.
* Do not let that upper case ‘s’ bother you. Self or self, you are a part of THE Son of God.
²To hold a grievance is to forget who you are.
* Absolutely! This does not mean that you have to LIKE the storyline that you are currently in or that anyone else seems like they are living. The story in form has nothing to do with whether you recognize that God IS, you are a part of the Sonship of Christ, and that the storylines of lack and abuse or neglect cannot be real.
³To hold a grievance is to see yourself as a body.
* There you go! And you understand that you are an eternal spiritual energy being not dependent on form at all. Nothing wrong with describing yourself as a shape-shifter either, as far as I am concerned. You are not the form or the story. You ARE as God created you; perfect, innocent, and complete in Him and completely WITHIN Him as He is IN you.
⁴To hold a grievance is to let the ego rule your mind and to condemn the body to death.
* A grievance will lock you into time for one thing. And Time does not hold the Son of God or any part of His Mind. He is a FREE agent. We will grow in our understanding of just what this means to us individually and as societies.
⁵Perhaps you do not yet fully realize just what holding grievances does to your mind.
⁶It seems to split you off from your Source and make you unlike Him.
⁷It makes you believe that He is like what you think you have become, for no one can conceive of his Creator as unlike himself.
* That is worth looking at onc more time.
* Consider the fact that when you make somebody else ‘real’ in their story you have created an idol, an image and that you could not have done so without believing that you are like the idol or image that you have created in your mind whether it is good or bad in your judgment. Hmm. Wow!
2. Shut off from your Self, which remains aware of Its likeness to Its Creator, your Self seems to sleep, while the part of your mind that weaves illusions in its sleep appears to be awake.
* People are making movies about this kind of stuff right now.
²Can all this arise from holding grievances?
³Oh, yes!
⁴For he who holds grievances denies he was created by love, and his Creator has become fearful to him in his dream of hate.
* This also is evident in the willingness to accept sin as a possibility.
⁵Who can dream of hatred and not fear God?
3. It is as sure that those who hold grievances will redefine God in their own image, as it is certain that God created them like Himself, and defined them as part of Him.
* In other words, you must become god. Even if you place your trust and devotion in another person or society you will cling to those who ‘look or think/speak’ as you believe yourself to be. And you might be surprised to discover that this is often someone that you think of as your ‘enemy.’
²It is as sure that those who hold grievances will suffer guilt, as it is certain that those who forgive will find peace.
* This is a promise that I have experienced.
* I want to tell you, though, that the body in which my spirit currently operates has its own memory and responses to ‘remembered’ past events. I suspect some from past or future ‘lives,’ as well. Thankfully, I do not see myself as a body and do not claim ‘it’s witness’ to fear or grievance as my truth or identity. This may be a bit ‘deep’ and difficult to understand and would take too long to give evidence. Yet, I feel that the Holy Spirit would have me share it for those who are ready to hear it.
³It is as sure that those who hold grievances will forget who they are, as it is certain that those who forgive will remember.
* My comments above testify to this.
4. Would you not be willing to relinquish your grievances if you believed all this were so?
²Perhaps you do not think you can let your grievances go.
³That, however, is simply a matter of motivation.
* To tell you the truth ‘you’ do not have to. The Holy Spirit will do it for you when you are willing to look to Him for Interpretation and Guidance.
⁴Today we will try to find out how you would feel without them.
⁵If you succeed even by ever so little, there will never be a problem in motivation ever again.
5. Begin today’s extended practice period by searching your mind for those against whom you hold what you regard as major grievances.
²Some of these will be quite easy to find.
³Then think of the seemingly minor grievances you hold against those you like and even think you love.
⁴It will quickly become apparent that there is no one against whom you do not cherish grievances of some sort.
⁵This has left you alone in all the universe in your perception of yourself.
6. Determine now to see all these people as friends.
* I prefer to hear Jesus’ message that we see all these people as confused parts of the Mind of Christ. Anything that is not in alignment with this is misleading.
* Let’s put this in its proper perspective, shall we?
* I really like this passage and think of it when I think of the word ‘friend.’
* 13. The One Who knows the plan of God that God would have you follow can teach you what it is. ²Only His wisdom is capable of guiding you to follow it. ³Every decision you undertake alone but signifies that you would define what salvation is, and what you would be saved from. ⁴The Holy Spirit knows that all salvation is escape from guilt. ⁵You have no other “enemy,” and against this strange distortion of the purity of the Son of God the Holy Spirit is your only Friend. ⁶He is the strong protector of the innocence that sets you free. ⁷And it is His decision to undo everything that would obscure your innocence from your unclouded mind. (ACIM, T-14.III.13:1-7)
* The Holy Spirit ALONE sees everyone and everything as a part of Christ and thus is Qualified to Guide you in engaging with it/them.
* 5. You look still with the body’s eyes, and they can see but thorns. ²Yet you have asked for and received another sight. ³Those who accept the Holy Spirit’s purpose as their own share also His vision.
⁴And what enables Him to see His purpose shine forth from every altar now is yours as well as His. ⁵He sees no strangers; only dearly loved and loving friends. ⁶He sees no thorns but only lilies, gleaming in the gentle glow of peace that shines on everything He looks upon and loves. (ACIM, T-20.II.5:1-6)
* Please remember to look at others with the understanding/witness/spiritual eyes that the Holy Spirit can give you.
²Say to them all, thinking of each one in turn as you do so:
³I would see you as my friend, that I may remember you are part of me and come to know myself.
* That statement would so confuse me IF I were not already in the Atonement and following the Holy Spirit in all I do. I prefer to say, even now: “I would see you as Christ, that I may remember your innocence and mine.”
⁴Spend the remainder of the practice period trying to think of yourself as completely at peace with everyone and everything, safe in a world that protects you and loves you, and that you love in return.
* This I can acknowledge ONLY when I understand that God Is Real, His Son Could ONLY be as God created Him and that I have His Voice to Guide me from within. EACH of these things reside with
me Here, in Heaven.
⁵Try to feel safety surrounding you, hovering over you and holding you up.
⁶Try to believe, however briefly, that nothing can harm you in any way.
⁷At the end of the practice period tell yourself:
⁸Love holds no grievances.
⁹When I let all my grievances go I will know I am perfectly safe.
* … Because I will no longer hold to a belief in sin or its reality. Not even of its possibility.
7. The short practice periods should include a quick application of today’s idea in this form, whenever any thought of grievance arises against anyone, physically present or not:
²Love holds no grievances.
³Let me not betray my Self. (*As a part of Christ, The Son of God.)
⁴In addition, repeat the idea several times an hour in this form:
⁵Love holds no grievances.
⁶I would wake to my Self by laying all my grievances aside and wakening in Him.
* Do you see how the Truth of the teachings of Jesus in A Course in Miracles could be misunderstood because they were spread with the understanding that the only one who understood what they meant was one who had a cursory knowledge of the teachings of Jesus?
(ACIM, W-68.1:1–7:6)
Till next time, God bless, debi.
